Deadline Date: April 24, 2026
The Supply Chain Capacity Program is seeking applications to support sheep producers and supply chain businesses in Western Australia by strengthening on-farm and processing infrastructure to prepare for the phase-out of live sheep exports by sea.
The program focuses on increasing onshore processing supply chain capacity, efficiency, and productivity, encouraging investments in capital projects that enhance the resilience and future competitiveness of the sector, and moderating impacts during the transition from live exports.
Round 2 of the program offers $20 million in funding across two streams, with grants from $50,000 up to $2.0 million for on-farm finishing and $50,000 up to $5.0 million for processing infrastructure. Applicants must provide matching co-contributions and demonstrate value for money and measurable contributions to strengthening the sheep supply chain.
Eligible applicants include businesses operating or intending to operate within WA’s sheep supply chain, such as farmers, processors, feedlot operators, and infrastructure providers including cold storage and lairage services. Applicants must be private sector entities with an Australian Business Number (ABN), registered for GST, financially viable, and capable of entering into legally binding agreements with the WA Government.
Projects must be located in regional or metropolitan Western Australia, and applicants must have a minimum of two years’ operation or a demonstrable track record within the industry. Entities such as government bodies, publicly funded research institutions, or businesses with DPIRD employees on the board are not eligible to apply.
This program provides an opportunity for WA’s sheep industry to invest in sustainable onshore solutions that secure future processing capacity, support producers, and position the sector for long-term growth.
