Deadline: 23-April-2026
The Signage Improvement Grant is now accepting applications to support commercial businesses and property owners in improving storefront signage to enhance visibility and attract customers.
The focus areas of this initiative include fascia signage, perpendicular signage, stand-alone signage, restoration of existing signs, and design and installation of new signage for commercial and eligible agricultural uses open to the public.
This grant program encourages businesses and property owners to install clear and effective signage that contributes to the overall appearance and functionality of commercial areas. It supports both the restoration of older signs and the development of new signage, helping businesses improve their visibility and appeal to customers. Agricultural-related signage is also eligible where properties are used for farmgate sales or agri-tourism and are accessible to visitors.
Funding is provided on a cost-sharing basis, with the Municipality covering 50 percent of the total eligible project cost, excluding taxes, up to a maximum of $1,000. For properties with multiple storefronts, street addresses, or corner locations with signage on multiple frontages, the maximum funding can reach $2,000 per project.
Eligible applicants include merchants and commercial property owners located within the Community Improvement Project Area. Projects must comply with municipal by-laws, zoning requirements, and applicable permits, and must not begin prior to approval. Applicants are required to contribute at least 50 percent of the project cost and ensure that all improvements are completed within the approved timeframe. Additional considerations include maintaining pedestrian safety, avoiding interference with sidewalks, and ensuring that projects contribute positively to the streetscape, particularly within Commercial Focus Areas.
