Deadline Date: May 15, 2026
The Music BC is offering its Business Travel Grant to support B.C.-based music companies in undertaking travel activities that foster the growth and development of their business and/or their B.C.-based artist clients.
The program focuses on assisting companies with travel for attending music industry conferences, trade missions, recognized industry festivals and events located at least 300 km from the company’s base, and business meetings directly related to their music initiatives. It prioritizes initiatives that provide detailed itineraries, include confirmed activities, demonstrate the participation of company representatives, and enhance business and artist development opportunities within the music industry.
The grant contributes up to 75% of total eligible expenses, excluding GST/HST, with a maximum of $2,500 CAD per application. Applicants must account for all confirmed guarantees, contract fees, confirmed government grants, or additional funding sources, ensuring that combined public funding does not exceed 75% of eligible project expenses. Each application must name one company representative, though funding may cover up to two representatives for the same initiative, provided a justification is included. Only one application per initiative will be accepted.
Eligible expenses include economy-rate airfare, ground travel such as cabs, trains, ferries, parking, and rideshare services, accommodation at a maximum of $300 per room per night, per diems up to $100 per representative per day, event registration fees purchased directly from the festival or event, communication expenses directly related to the initiative, fuel, and vehicle rental. All travel activities must be accompanied by a detailed itinerary with confirmed or pending meetings, and at least 50% of the meetings listed must be confirmed. Business travel applications for award shows are currently not accepted.
