StartupTN invites startups and aspiring entrepreneurs from villages across Tamil Nadu to apply for the Gramam Thorum Puthozhil Scheme, an initiative focused on fostering rural innovation and enabling grassroots entrepreneurship.
This scheme is designed to reach 100 selected villages, encouraging grassroots innovators to participate in a movement that strengthens rural innovation and community‑led economic growth.
Under this opportunity, village founders can access an equity‑free seed grant of Rs. 1 lakh through the TANSEED fund, which can be used to accelerate prototype development, validate business models, and begin early market exploration. Alongside financial support, entrepreneurs benefit from incubation, mentoring, and capacity‑building offered through StartupTN’s regional hubs, helping them navigate legal, branding, and business development needs.
The initiative has already seen the launch of the first village startup communities in districts such as Coimbatore, Pudukkottai, and Tiruvarur, bringing together local youth, women, and differently abled innovators to engage in workshops, idea validation, and ecosystem building. These community hubs serve as focal points where residents can collaborate, access resources, and seek guidance to strengthen their ventures.
By decentralizing entrepreneurship beyond urban centres, this opportunity empowers rural youth to pursue innovation and enterprise without relocating, fostering local employment and economic resilience. The program’s vision is to democratize access to startup support systems, nurture local talent, and cultivate a culture of innovation rooted in village communities, creating a vibrant ecosystem where rural founders can thrive.
