The AgriFoodTure in partnership with Roadmap Food, Health & Living Environment is pleased to launch a bilateral call to support collaborative research and innovation projects between Danish and Dutch partners.
This bilateral call invites consortia with partners from both countries to work together on advancing plant-rich diets to achieve sustainability, public health, and climate objectives. By leveraging complementary expertise and strengths in Denmark and the Netherlands, the call aims to accelerate transformative solutions in the agri-food system.
AgriFoodTure and Roadmap Food, Health & Living Environment aim to catalyze this shift by supporting projects that conduct research to understand consumer barriers and motivations, develop strategies to foster behavior change, and create sustainable and healthy food environments, invest in R&D to improve taste, texture and the nutritional profile of plant-rich products and their effects on human health. Enhanced consumer acceptance will drive market demand for plant-rich alternatives, further accelerating the transition to a more sustainable and resilient agri-food system.
Themes
- The project should address at least one of the following themes:
- Development of Nutritious, Sustainable Plant-Rich Products: Focus on the nutritional quality, health benefits, and consumer acceptance of plant-rich diets. Projects should explore innovations in product development to enhance the taste, texture, and nutritional profile of plant-rich foods and their effect on human health.
- Public Awareness of Healthy Sustainable Diets via Effective Consumer Engagement and Education: Examine the role and effectiveness of consumer behavior interventions, food environment improvements and market strategies in promoting sustainable dietary transitions.
Funding Information
- Total AgriFoodTure budget for this call (max 4 years) is up to 20 million DKK (2.65 million EUR).
- When preparing the budget, an exchange rate of 7.5 DKK/EUR must be used.
- Investment per project: 500.000-1.500.000 EUR
- Duration: The maximum duration of a project may not exceed 48 months.
Expected Outcomes
- Strengthened collaboration: Enhance the national and international impact of Denmark and the Netherlands while fostering mutual learning and synergies across borders.
- Increased consumer acceptance: Develop innovative strategies and solutions to promote healthy plant-rich diets in Denmark and the Netherlands, addressing cultural, social economic and market-specific barriers.
- Market development: Identify and expand domestic and international markets for healthy, sustainable, plant-rich food products, driving economic growth and export opportunities.
- Value chain collaboration: Enhance collaboration across the entire value chain to enable and promote dietary changes.
- GHG reduction: Achieve measurable reductions in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by shifting to sustainable dietary patterns
- Improved public health outcomes: Address diet-related chronic diseases by promoting healthier and more sustainable food options, including improvements to the food environment.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible applicants include enterprises, trade associations, sector organizations, NGO’s, research institutions, and (Dutch: regional) public institutions in Denmark and the Netherlands. The lead applicant must hold a valid Danish CVR number (for Danish partners) or a registration with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (for Dutch partners).
- Enterprises and knowledge institutions from both within and outside the EU can participate as project partners. However, only Dutch partners can be eligible to receive funding from TKI.
