Black History Makers Business Grant Program (US)

Citi Trends is inviting the best and brightest Black changemakers to apply for the Black History Makers Business Grant Program.

Theme

  • In celebration of Black History Month, Citi Trends, Inc. is acknowledging Black entrepreneurs that are making history today with a for-profit or non-profit business that has a confirmed business history of offering services and/or selling products (excluding any businesses involved in the manufacturing, distribution or sale of food, beverages, supplements or the like). Citi Trends, Inc. shall provide selected Black entrepreneurs with Grants to help advance and further their businesses.

Funding Information

  • There will be ten (10) selected Grant recipients selected from the first 10,000 qualifying submissions received which shall each receive a $5,000.00 grant (the “Grant Funds”) payable to the recipient’s business entity as listed on the signed W-9 submitted with the recipient’s application.

Eligibility Criteria

  • This grant program (hereinafter referred to as the “Grant” or “Grant Program”) is open to legal residents of Alabama, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, or Wisconsin who are 18 years of age or older, as of date of application.
  • You must be a Black entrepreneur or a Black owner in a Black majority-owned business that has a confirmed business history offering its services and/or selling its products. Businesses involved in the manufacturing, distribution or sale of food, beverages, supplements and the like are excluded. Your product must comply with all applicable laws and your business must comply with all laws as well, including without limitation, federal, state and local licensing and certification requirements (e.g. FDA requirements).
  • As part of your application, you must provide a link to your business Facebook page, business Instagram page or business website that displays (i) your business logo; (ii) photos of your services and/or products; and (iii) photos of your product displayed for sale (whether in-store or online) if your business involves the sale of products. Your business may be a for-profit business or a nonprofit business. You must have a registered business and upon request, you must submit at least one (1) of the following documents as evidence of such business as applicable to either your forprofit business or non-profit business: Letter from the IRS assigning your Tax ID, Letter from the IRS determining 501(c)(3) status, Business License or a certified copy of Articles of Incorporation. All businesses must have a valid Business EIN and if selected as a Grant recipient, you must submit a signed W-9 listing your business entity and its EIN in order to receive the Grant Funds.
  • You must voluntarily complete a background check if requested by Citi Trends, Inc. You must not or have any civil charges pending against your business or its products, including but not limited to any lawsuits.

Ineligibility Criteria

  • The Administrator and the Sponsor and their respective employees, officers, directors, affiliated companies, subsidiaries, licensees, franchisees, distributors, dealers, sales representatives, retailers, printers, individuals engaged in the development, production or distribution of materials, their advertising agencies, and any and all other companies associated with the Grant agents (collectively, the “Grant Entities ”), and each of their immediate family members (as defined by the IRS) and/or people living in the same household, are not eligible to participate or to be a selected Grant recipient. Vendors of Citi Trends, Inc. are also not eligible to participate or to be a selected Grant recipient.
