Deadline Date: January 20, 2026
The Dutch Film Fund and the Flemish Audiovisual Fund (VAF) jointly support selected feature films and documentaries realized as Dutch–Flemish co-productions to strengthen collaboration between the two film sectors.
The aim of the scheme is to strengthen collaboration between the Dutch and Flemish film sectors, stimulating the development of new networks, continuing existing partnerships, focusing on projects with artistic value, originality, urgency, and a high-quality script, giving attention to creative and technical expenditures in the Netherlands and the release potential of the film in both countries, sharpening the artistic vision of the filmmaker, providing a broader financial base for film projects, encouraging professional knowledge exchange and creative collaboration, increasing the international visibility of Dutch cinema, film professionals, and the film industry, targeting minority Dutch co-productions in the categories of feature film and documentary that have previously received a production grant from the VAF, and supporting projects with strong creative contributions from both countries that have the potential for festival success and audience reach in both territories.
Each year, the scheme supports up to four feature films and three documentaries realized in co-production by Dutch and Flemish filmmakers. These projects are selected based on their artistic quality, originality, and relevance, as well as their capacity to foster sustained cooperation between the Dutch and Flemish audiovisual sectors. The scheme provides financial contributions for the realization phase of eligible projects. Feature films may receive support of up to €200,000, while documentaries may receive up to €50,000. Each year, a maximum of four feature films and three documentaries from each territory are eligible for a realization contribution.
International co-production under this scheme enables filmmakers to expand their creative horizons, access broader financing structures, and engage in meaningful professional exchange. The collaboration contributes positively to the international positioning of Dutch cinema and strengthens long-term partnerships between producers, creators, and technical professionals in both countries.
Applications for production support can be submitted by a Dutch minority co-production company that has been established for at least two years in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, a member state of the EU or the EEA, or Switzerland, and that continuously produces and exploits films and other audiovisual productions. The application is represented by the Dutch minority co-producer, who must have had prime responsibility as a majority producer for at least one animated or live-action feature film with a theatrical release in the Netherlands for feature film applications, or at least one feature-length documentary with a theatrical release in the Netherlands for documentary applications.
