The EU-CDB Regional Food Security Programme is inviting applications to enhance the sustainability and resilience of food systems across the Caribbean while improving food and nutrition security for vulnerable populations.
The focus areas, of this programme include strengthening institutional capacity of agri-finance institutions and farmer organisations, advancing production and processing agri-tech solutions, improving resource optimisation and cost-reduction technologies, and promoting climate-adaptive technologies and resilient infrastructure. It also focuses on improving food production systems with gender sensitivity, strengthening distribution systems, expanding social protection for agricultural actors, and ensuring equitable access to nutritious diets.
The programme supports investment projects led by the Caribbean Development Bank that provide access to finance, encourage innovation, and enhance competitiveness and resilience among agri-MSMEs, producers, agro-processors, and farmers. It aims to build stronger food systems that are inclusive and better prepared for climate and economic challenges.
Funding is allocated on a competitive basis, with individual country projects eligible for grants of up to EUR 600,000. Regional projects covering more than two countries may receive up to EUR 1,300,000.
Eligible applicants include agri-finance institutions, farmers and farmer cooperatives, agri-entrepreneurs, agro-processors, and ministries responsible for agriculture and fisheries.
