The Waste Authority is pleased to invite applications for its WasteSorted Community Education Grant Program to support eligible organisations to develop and implement community education projects that support the achievement of the waste strategy’s objectives and targets.
Objectives
- The WasteSorted Community Education Grants are aligned with the waste strategy’s objectives of avoiding waste, recovering more value and resources from solid waste, and protecting the environment.
- These grants are available to support organisations in the delivery of implementation‑ready projects which are supported by well‑developed and costed project plans.
Funding Information
- A maximum grant of $25,000 is available per project.
Eligible Projects
- Assessment of applications for funding will focus on projects that:
- support the waste strategy’s objectives
- relate to focus materials, which include plastics, paper and cardboard, organics (including food organics), construction and demolition waste, metals, glass, textiles and hazardous waste (non‑domestic).
Ineligible Projects
- A project will not be considered if it is:
- an initiative which is focused on unrelated environmental issues, such as air or water quality, rather than the priorities of the waste strategy
- a project that replicates existing programs without adding new value or innovation
- for the purchase of capital equipment or land
- without direct benefit to the Western Australian community
Eligibility Criteria
- Funding is available for projects implemented in Western Australia.
- Eligible organisations include:
- incorporated, not‑for‑profit organisations located within the jurisdiction of the Western Australian (WA) Government that have a registered ABN
- unincorporated organisations or community groups applying through the auspice of an incorporated body or a local government authority that has an ABN
- businesses with at least one year of continuous operation (including sole traders and partnerships)
- local governments
- regional councils
- research and education organisations (excluding schools)
Ineligibility Criteria
- Ineligible organisations include:
- individuals who do not have an auspice organisation
- unincorporated groups that do not have an auspice organisation
- state government agencies and statutory authorities
- applicants from Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) Islands
- schools (WasteSorted Schools grants are available specifically for school waste projects)
Assessment Criteria
- All applications will be assessed against the following evenly weighted criteria:
- project benefits
- viability of the project
- capacity and capability of applicant
- value for money
- addresses focus materials.
