The Apprenticeship Grants programme is inviting applications to support businesses in providing modern apprenticeship opportunities and strengthening employment pathways in the United Kingdom.
The focus areas, include supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in hosting apprenticeships, encouraging business growth and employment creation, strengthening workforce skills through training and development, and promoting sustainable business expansion in eligible regions.
The programme is designed to provide financial assistance to businesses that demonstrate a strong commitment to hosting modern apprenticeships and creating structured pathways for skill development and employment. It aims to support both new and existing businesses in building capacity, improving workforce skills, and contributing to local economic development.
Financial support of up to £24,500 is available over a period of three years under the FutureSkills apprenticeship scheme. The final grant amount depends on the specific needs of the business, the apprenticeship being undertaken, and the availability of other funding sources.
Eligible applicants include small and medium-sized enterprises such as sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies. The fund does not support very small lifestyle or hobby businesses without scalability. Applicants must be based in the Caithness and North Sutherland area, specifically the Dounreay Travel to Work Area, with some exceptions for graduate placement schemes.
Applicants must demonstrate financial viability, including owner investment, and show clear plans for growth or development through apprenticeships or new employment opportunities. Applications for capital equipment such as computers or printers are generally not considered unless they directly contribute to business growth or additionality.
