Deadline: March 06, 2026
The Aboriginal Tourism Development Support Grant Program Round 4 supports Aboriginal owned businesses and organisations to develop Aboriginal cultural tourism experiences and products that encourage visitors to travel to the Northern Territory and stay longer.
The focus is on developing Aboriginal cultural tourism experiences and tourism products that encourage visitors to travel to the NT and stay longer, feasibility and business planning for upgrade improvements and/or new infrastructure that supports the delivery of Aboriginal tourism visitor experiences, and assistance to prepare and lodge applications to the relevant land council or other land management authority for tourism experiences and product development.
This program provides a non-competitive funding pool of $200,000 (excluding GST) to engage professional services supporting these activities. Eligible applicants must be more than 50% Aboriginal owned businesses or organisations legally constituted and registered in Australia and operating in the Northern Territory. The program encourages applicants to demonstrate commitment through a strategic approach including feasibility, business planning, and action plans aligned with the Northern Territory Aboriginal Tourism Strategy 2020-2030.
Funding applications can be made for a minimum of $10,000 and up to a maximum of $30,000 (excluding GST). Activities funded under this program exclude marketing of existing products, wages or salaries for employees, regular repairs or maintenance, and activities without clear visitor benefit. Applicants need to provide a quote outlining the scope of work and delivery timeline milestones with their submission.
Applications close on March 6, 2026, or until funds are fully allocated, with consideration made in order of completed applications received. Successful applicants will be notified within 14 days of submission and funded through two payments: an initial payment upon acceptance of the funding offer and a final payment upon project completion and acquittal. Projects must be completed by May 15, 2026.
The program requires funding recipients to enter into a legally binding agreement outlining obligations including compliance with the NT Government’s Buy Local policy, reporting, and recognition of government support. Assessment includes verification of applicant eligibility, alignment with strategic objectives, budget and quote completeness, and adherence to funding conditions.
This grant program aims to sustain and grow Aboriginal tourism by building new and enhanced cultural tourism offerings while encouraging economic development through Indigenous business growth in the Northern Territory.
