Applied Artificial Intelligence and Data Strategy Grant Program 2025 (Spain)

Deadline: 30 September 2025

Applications are now open for the Applied Artificial Intelligence and Data Strategy 2025 Grant Program to support projects based on the use of AI in companies in the Basque Country, which will have a demonstration effect and allow activating the supply and demand of this technology in Euskadi, with the aim of providing Basque companies with tools to increase their competitiveness.

Likewise, support will be given to projects focused on strategic data management , with the aim of facilitating and accelerating the implementation of AI-based solutions. This means that initiatives that not only utilize data effectively but also establish processes and structures that allow companies to integrate AI into their operations more quickly and efficiently will be prioritized . These projects will help companies make the most of their data to improve decision-making, optimize resources, and develop new business opportunities.

What does it offer you?

  • Non-repayable aid for projects to implement services and/or commercial solutions based on Artificial Intelligence and to prepare the data infrastructures to carry out said projects.
    • Up to €100,000 to promote the use of Artificial Intelligence
      • Non-repayable aid of 50% and up to €100,000 per company for projects implementing services and/or commercial solutions based on Artificial Intelligence that improve business competitiveness.
      • Projects that allow applicant companies to prepare their data infrastructures so they can subsequently implement Artificial Intelligence projects will also be considered eligible.
      • These projects must be implemented within a maximum of 12 months from their start date and, in any case, before March 31, 2026.
    • External consulting to make better use of your company’s data
      • You can hire an external consulting firm to provide technical advice on how you can improve data management and help you identify projects where artificial intelligence could help you find valuable data for your business.
      • You’ll be able to leverage data to inform decision-making with projects focused on data architecture and advanced analytics, such as developing business intelligence tools or machine learning.
    • Implement applications, solutions and services developed using AI
      • With this grant, you’ll be able to finance projects that integrate AI technologies into your processes and services , thereby improving your business’s efficiency, competitiveness, and innovative capacity.
      • It includes the development of dashboards and reports that will allow you to analyze the data generated by AI , promoting better decision-making based on accurate information.
    • Improve efficiency and competitiveness by applying AI to your production processes
      • You’ll be able to optimize production by analyzing data in real time, allowing you to identify bottlenecks, predict failures, and proactively adjust operations.
      • Furthermore, AI facilitates the automation of repetitive and routine tasks, such as quality control and predictive maintenance, reducing both downtime and operating costs, and improving the accuracy and speed of production activities.
      • Furthermore, this grant supports you in improving data governance, a key aspect of making the most of AI, ensuring efficient and secure management of critical information for your business. It will also allow you to develop more robust infrastructures for data storage and processing, which is essential for handling the volume of information that AI requires.
      • In this way, AI not only optimizes your production processes, but also enables your company to be more agile and competitive in a constantly evolving market environment.

Eligible Expenses

  • They subsidize 50% of expenses, up to 100,000 euros, to boost your AI projects.
    • Consulting, development, hardware and internal expenses
    • Licenses or cloud services

Eligible Projects

  • AI solution integrations to optimize data use, automate critical processes, and generate faster, more accurate decisions
    • Data Strategy Consulting
      • This typology covers exclusively the consulting costs in which an external expert company will evaluate your current situation and offer you technical advice.
      • The goal is to help you improve your data management and identify potential applications of artificial intelligence in your processes.
      • This initial analysis will serve as a foundation or preliminary plan for developing the other types of projects mentioned above, facilitating the implementation of more advanced solutions in later stages.
  • Data Strategy
    • These projects will allow you to make appropriate use of your data, facilitating decision-making by implementing solutions that improve your infrastructure for data mining and advanced analytics.
    • In addition, they must focus on one of the following two areas:
      • Data Architecture and Infrastructure: Designing the data model and deploying the infrastructure required for data ingestion, storage, preprocessing, interoperability, and management.
      • Business Intelligence: Development of dashboards and reports that allow you to exploit data to improve decision-making in your company.
  • Applied Artificial Intelligence
    • Projects must be related to the implementation of business services or solutions based on Artificial Intelligence.
    • Additionally, you must demonstrate the use of AI algorithms in one of the following areas:
      • Computer Vision: Use of algorithms and image processing techniques to detect and recognize objects or people in different contexts.
      • Quantum: Application of quantum technology to enhance AI solutions such as machine learning algorithms, neural networks, and large language models (LLM).
      • Machine Learning and Deep Learning: Machine learning, including deep learning, for a wide variety of applications.
      • NLP (Natural Language Processing): the development of algorithms that process, analyze, and generate text or speech in natural language, such as machine translation, chatbots, virtual assistants, or voice recognition.
      • RPA (Robotic Process Automation): workflow automation or decision support.
      • Generative AI: developing systems that use generative neural networks to create new content in formats such as text, images, videos, or audio.

Who is it for?

  • For entrepreneurs, freelancers, and companies interested in getting the most out of artificial intelligence.
    • They must have an activity center in the Basque Country where the project is developed.
    • IT consulting and engineering companies that provide services in the field of AI are excluded.
    • Projects that are already part of the beneficiary’s own product/service catalogue will not be accepted.
