Deadline Date: April 20, 2026
The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation is requesting applications for its Clean Energy Future Fund Program to support the implementation of innovative clean energy projects in Western Australia.
The Fund focuses on initiatives that deliver high public value by achieving significant, cost-effective reductions in greenhouse gas emissions or by demonstrating new technologies and approaches with the potential for broad adoption and community benefit. Projects may involve the design, deployment, testing, or demonstration of clean energy solutions that contribute to a sustainable and low-emissions future.
The primary objective of the Fund is to provide financial support for clean energy projects that make a measurable impact on emissions reduction while fostering innovation and community benefits. Projects funded under this initiative are expected to show clear outcomes, either by reducing greenhouse gas emissions below projected levels or by advancing new technologies and approaches that can be scaled more broadly across the state.
The Fund provides grants ranging from $100,000 to $4 million per project, with a total of around $9 million expected to be available for this round. Projects must be completed within a maximum timeframe of five years. The Clean Energy Future Fund represents a significant opportunity for organisations to contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future in Western Australia while supporting innovation, community engagement, and meaningful environmental outcomes.
To be eligible for funding, applicants must meet specific criteria. Eligible entities include Australian corporations under the Corporations Act 2001 or the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006, local government entities, government research organisations, or consortia led by an eligible entity. Applicants that do not meet these criteria, such as schools, trusts, federal or state government departments, sole traders, individuals, overseas organisations, or unincorporated associations, are not eligible to lead a project. Only applications that meet both applicant and project eligibility requirements will proceed to merit assessment.
