The City of Perth offers Business Improvement Grants to support businesses and property owners in carrying out project works that enhance the public realm, create new experiences, and encourage people to visit and stay longer in the city.
The focus of this grant programme is on enhancing the public realm, creating new experiences that increase city vibrancy, encouraging visitation and economic activity, and supporting businesses and property owners to contribute to the city’s liveability and prosperity.
Business Improvement Grants provide matched funding ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 for eligible projects. These grants are reimbursed after the completion of the work and once all invoices have been paid, supporting initiatives that help revitalise streetscapes and contribute to urban activation.
To be eligible for the programme, applicants must be legally constituted entities, individuals, or businesses with an Australian Business Number (ABN). They must demonstrate a tangible investment in the City of Perth, such as holding a commercial property lease within the local government area that extends at least two years from the date of application or owning property within the city. Applicants are also required to consult with relevant City authorities about their project, submit the application prior to the project’s commencement, and demonstrate sufficient financial viability to fund the project upfront without relying solely on the City’s grant.
Projects supported by the Business Improvement Grants must be completed within 12 months from the date of the City’s decision, ensuring timely implementation and impact within the local community and business environment. These grants aim to contribute to the vibrancy and energy of Perth by empowering local stakeholders to improve public spaces and create engaging experiences for residents and visitors alike.
