Airbnb has announced the £1 million Best of British Fund to celebrate and strengthen the UK’s unique local tourism, supporting the stays, experiences, and attractions that make British holidays unforgettable.
Focus Areas/Objectives/Priorities/Themes: The fund seeks initiatives that support the visitor experience and make British travel unforgettable, with eligible projects falling under at least one of the following categories: Nature & Outdoors – submissions that encourage visitors to get outside and explore the very best of UK’s rich and diverse landscape; Food & Dining – submissions that showcase the best of UK food culture, from pubs and street food to world-class cuisine; Music & Arts – submissions that shine a light on UK’s global creative influence, from local festivals and theatre to iconic cultural stories; Culture & Heritage – submissions which protect, restore or celebrate UK’s rich history and traditions.
The Best of British Fund aims to preserve and promote what makes the UK’s destinations special. With one in three hospitality businesses currently operating at a loss, many local establishments that define Britain’s charm are at risk of closure. Through this initiative, Airbnb seeks to empower small businesses, community groups, social enterprises, and cultural or heritage organisations to sustain and grow their impact.
Successful applicants could receive grants of up to £100,000 to help bring their projects to life, with the goal of strengthening Britain’s tourism offerings and helping communities thrive. Applications are open to a broad range of recognised groups or organisations based in the United Kingdom. Eligible applicants include small businesses, social enterprises, community groups, and cultural or heritage organisations that contribute meaningfully to the British visitor experience.
Applicants must complete the online entry form and share how their business or initiative supports the Best of British visitor experience. The application process includes assessment based on eligibility and alignment with the program’s goals. Funding will be allocated to selected projects to enhance or expand local tourism experiences.
