Applications are now open for the Advancing Clean Technologies Program to support the adoption of clean technologies that help with climate change adaptation, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving energy efficiency, promoting sustainable and clean growth, and increasing value-added agricultural production.
Funding Information
- Applicants can apply to receive Program funding up to 60% of eligible expenses, to a maximum of $150,000, for projects with eligible expenses over $60,000.
Eligible Expenses
- The following items are eligible in the program:
- High Efficiency Farm Heating, Cooling and Energy Systems
- Farm heating, high efficiency cooling and alternate energy system equipment (solar, wind, geothermal, ground source heat pumps, air source heat pumps)
- Alternative/Efficient Energy Installations
- Low carbon fuel switching technologies (e.g. electrification, replacing oil systems with high efficiency low carbon options)
- Energy efficiency opportunities (head curtains or insulation) identified in an energy assessment
- Reverse osmosis systems for maple production, and power installation to systems
- Installation of 3-phase power
- Battery storage
- LED horticulture lighting
- Energy monitoring systems
- Byproduct Waste Reduction or Adding Value to Byproducts
- Efficient biomass boilers and forced air furnaces
- The production of biofuels (anerobic digestion)
- High Efficiency Farm Heating, Cooling and Energy Systems
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible, you must be a farm, Mi’kmaq conducting farming activities in a Mi’kmaw community or agri-business.
- For farms, you need to:
- be currently and properly registered in the correct income category under the Farm Registration Act
- have generated an annual eligible gross commodity income of at least $30,000
- be at least 19 years old and actively farming in the program year
- For agri-businesses, you need to:
- represent Nova Scotia agriculture and agri-food products
- have generated an annual eligible agri-business income of at least $30,000
- have demonstrated the value or use of Nova Scotia products and ingredients
