Deadline Date: March 08, 2026
The Inspiring Australia Tasmania is offering grants to support innovative STEM engagement events and initiatives across Tasmania.
The 2026 Inspiring Tasmania Grants provide an exciting opportunity to engage communities in STEM, celebrate local scientific achievements, and support initiatives that broaden participation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics across Tasmania.
The focus areas for these grants include promoting and encouraging community interest, participation, and engagement in STEM, raising awareness of the contributions and achievements of Tasmanian scientists and innovators, increasing engagement and participation in groups historically under-represented in STEM, and building engagement and communication capacity in the Tasmanian STEM ecosystem.
The 2026 Inspiring Tasmania Grants program offers two streams of funding. The National Science Week Grants support public events and activities held between 8 and 30 August 2026, aimed at raising the profile and public awareness of science, technology, and innovation. These grants encourage community participation, highlight the work of local scientists, and foster engagement among under-represented groups in STEM. The STEM Community Grants are designed to fund activities outside the National Science Week period, focusing on building capacity and engagement in STEM, particularly for historically under-represented groups.
Two levels of funding are available for each stream. Program grants provide up to $5,000, while seed grants offer up to $1,500. Applicants eligible for seed grants must not have received an Inspiring Tasmania or Inspiring Australia grant in the last three years and should not regularly host science engagement activities.
Eligible costs for the grants include venue and equipment hire, event consumables, advertising and promotions, transport and accommodation, prizes and giveaways, equipment, fees for external presenters, and staff costs for activity development or delivery outside of regular hours. All initiatives and activities must take place in Tasmania, with events outside major cities and run by Tasmanian-based applicants given priority. Activities under the National Science Week Grants Program must occur between 8 and 30 August 2026, while those funded by STEM Community Grants must be delivered outside of this period.
Eligible applicants include individuals over 18, community groups, associations, organisations, businesses, industry bodies, local government organisations, and state government departments with a community focus. All successful grantees must be able to provide a valid tax invoice with an ABN.
