Anzisha has championed and supported over 290 Very Young Entrepreneurs throughout the African continent. The fellowship is a two-year program that celebrates and rewards business growth. During the course of the fellowship, the program will track the performance of the business and the entrepreneur. Businesses that show exemplary growth and initiative are rewarded with benefits and services such as short courses, cloud services, and cash stipends. At the end of the second year, entrepreneurs will pitch their businesses and successes for a chance to win their share of prizes to the value of $40,000. The grand prizes are split into four categories: The Job Creation Prize, Revenue Growth Prize, Storytelling Prize, and Integrating Systems and Processes Prize. At the end of the fellowship, the fellows will graduate and join the Anzisha alumni network.
Applicants must be between 15 and 22 years old with proof of identity and be nationals of an African country with a business based in Africa serving African customers or beneficiaries. The fellowship is designed for entrepreneurs who have already started their venture, and applicants must provide tangible results to demonstrate their business operations. Ventures can be in any field or industry, and applicants must be founding members of their business.
Judging of applications is based on the establishment of the venture with customers and beneficiaries, the leadership and management demonstrated by the founder, impact created by the venture, revenue generation or beneficiary reach, and job creation potential. Fellows are expected to demonstrate leadership, spend at least 20 hours per week on their business, and continue their commitment after selection.
During the fellowship, eligible entrepreneurs receive bi-annual cash stipends, short-term educational opportunities, internships, and specialized technical expert consultations in Year 2. Specific prizes are awarded for job creation, revenue growth, storytelling, and effective use of systems and processes to advance the business model.
