Deadline Date: December 15, 2025
The WatEnerWine project has launched an open call for technology providers offering ready-to-implement solutions that improve water and energy efficiency and foster the use of renewable energy in the wine sector.
Priority Focus Areas: Water Technologies, that enable wineries to: Improve water efficiency and reduce overall water consumption across all production stages. Increase water availability through the use of alternatives. Enhance process efficiency and internal recirculation, promoting the reuse of water within operations. Optimise wastewater management, treatment, and reuse. Implement digital, monitoring and control systems to track and optimise water flows and detect inefficiencies. Reduce water use and improve domestic and enotourism water management, supporting sustainable hospitality practices. Energy and Renewable Technologies, that enable wineries to: Improve energy efficiency and reduce overall consumption. Integrate renewable energy systems (solar, biomass, geothermal, wind, etc.) into production, as a way to reduce dependence on the public grid, increase self-consumption and decarbonize the wine sector. Recover waste heat and optimise energy storage, to cover peak energy demand and to use energy efficiently. Implement digital monitoring and energy management systems for better control and optimisation of the wine manufacture process. Introduce new energy concepts and technologies extrapolated from other industrial sectors that can be adapted to the wine sector looking for improving the use of energy.
This open call invites all public or private organisations legally established in the EU or in countries associated with the Single Market Programme. Applicants must demonstrate experience in providing technological solutions related to water management, energy efficiency or renewable energy relevant to the wine or agri-food sectors. The initiative seeks to identify innovative providers who are ready to support wineries in advancing their green transition.
Selected providers will gain the opportunity to showcase their solutions to a European network of wineries, clusters and innovation centres. Participants will receive international visibility through inclusion in the WatEnerWine Innovation Catalogue, which will be distributed widely across the wine sector. They will join a sustainability partnership enabling collaboration with SMEs and business support organisations and may be invited to speak in thematic Working Groups to present practical case studies and solution success stories.
Selected technologies may also be showcased during field missions, demonstration events and trade fairs, providing exposure to stakeholders and potential partners within the wine industry across Europe. The call represents an important step toward supporting an efficient, resilient and sustainable wine sector.
