The programme aims to support agri-business ideas, innovation and entrepreneurship related activities in agriculture and allied sectors of students to transform the idea into a real business, products and technologies.
To develop an innovative idea based on technology, service, business platforms etc. into prototype/ product, services/ platforms etc. and launching of a business based on that. To provide an opportunity to students for venturing into the agribusiness arena as well as for minimizing risks involved in businesses based on innovation. To attract and retain a large number of enthusiastic students in agriculture. To create a pipeline of innovative startups for incubators.
The programme promotes students’ driven innovations and start-ups and engages the students in innovation and start up activities to encourage the potential creativity of students in problem solving and entrepreneurial mind-set, and connecting with different stakeholders at regional, national and international level. Each selected student will be supported with technical and financial assistance of upto 4 lakh as one time fund for promoting their business ideas through KPs and R-ABIs appointed under the programme. The support will be released based on the recommendation of SIC.
A grant of up to Rs. 4 lakhs will be provided for each student in one instalment, and the programme timeline will be around six months, followed by a 15 days incubation workshop for selected students. The applicant has to be an Indian citizen, propose an innovative idea in agriculture or allied sector, and should be an enrolled student with a legal ID card and an NOC from their institution.
A maximum of 4 students per KP/R-ABI will be supported during each financial year, and students need not be registered as startups as per DPIIT guidelines. Applications will be scrutinized and pre-screened by IVRI R-ABI, which will select a batch maximum of 4 students agripreneurs with workable ideas. After completion of an initial one-month training workshop, students aspiring to convert their idea into a prototype will present before RIC for evaluation and recommendation to SIC for funding.
