The NAVODAYA Agripreneurship Orientation Programme is launched by ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) Remunerative Approaches for Agriculture and Allied Sector Rejuvenation (RKVY-RAFTAAR) Agri Business Incubation (R-ABI) scheme.
The focus areas include Veterinary Poly clinic, Pet Clinic, Veterinary Mobile Clinic, Food Processing (Dairy, Meat, Fish, Poultry), Livestock & Poultry Farming, Integrated Livestock Farming; Organic AH, Waste to Wealth, Veterinary Medicines and Healthcare Services, Veterinary Extension Services, Animal Feed Industry Feed Technologies, e-market Marketing & Secondary Agriculture Supply Chain Management, Animal Breeding and Genetics Reproduction, Veterinary Vaccines Diagnostics Biotechnology Products, Frozen Semen Bank/ Animal Germ Plasm, and Engineering Tools for Livestock Health & Production.
The objectives of this initiative are to develop an innovative idea based on technology, service, business platforms into prototype, product, services or platforms and support the launching of a business based on that. It aims to provide an opportunity to budding agripreneurs and students for venturing into the agribusiness arena while minimizing risks involved in innovation-based enterprises. The program also seeks to attract and retain a large number of enthusiastic and skilled youth in agriculture and to create a pipeline of innovative startups for incubators.
The programme is aimed at providing an opportunity to students, youth, smart farmers, women or anyone interested to venture in animal science and related fields. It supports entrepreneurs to refine their ideas and develop an innovative prototype in the form of products, services, processes, business platforms or business models. During the training period, participants are offered a stipend of Rs. 10,000 per month and a grant-in-aid opportunity for up to Rs. 5 lakhs upon selection.
This initiative includes a one-month training-cum-workshop and a 15-day incubation workshop designed to provide hands-on training and internship funding opportunities. Participants receive mentorship from IVRI scientists and domain experts along with expert advice, incubation support and necessary lab facilities. It aims to create and nurture future start-ups to provide attractive career options and support growth in agriculture and allied sectors.
The eligibility requirements state that the applicant has to be an Indian citizen. The applicant should propose one innovative idea based on technology, service or business platforms for increasing efficiency in agriculture and allied sectors. Enrolled incubatees before the release of funds should fulfil the criteria as per the Start-up Definition of the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion notifications from time to time. Enrolled incubatees at the Pre-Seed Stage should have a business idea to develop a product or service with market fit or proof of concept or prototype before funds recommendation from the committee and before signing the MoU with the concerned R-ABI.
