EarthScale Programme to support IP-Rich Climate Tech Startups and Spinouts (UK)

Deadline: 7 September 2025

Applications are now open for EarthScale, a new UK-wide 12-month programme supporting IP-rich climate tech startups and spinouts to scale to commercialisation.

EarthScale brings together a powerhouse network of regional hubs, building a connected, long-term ecosystem for scaling the UK’s most promising climate tech ventures.

Aims

  • Tackle the most urgent climate and environmental crises they face.
  • Creating economic opportunities in green skills and jobs.
  • Bolster the UK economy through high-potential research.

Why EarthScale?

  • Across the UK, cutting-edge climate innovations are emerging from research, with the potential to transform industries, cut emissions, and accelerate the transition to a net-zero, resilient future.
  • But too many ventures stall in the gap between prototype and commercial deployment. This high-risk, capital-intensive phase is characterised by technical complexity, making it challenging to overcome the barriers necessary for scaling.
  • EarthScale exists to bridge that gap.

What does the programme offer?

  • World-class technical and manufacturing and facilities
    • Gain access to cutting-edge facilities, labs, and technical expertise across the UK, including from participating universities.
  • Expert enterprise development
    • Benefit from unparalleled scaling support, including long-term vision, your scaling roadmap, and fundraising. Build connections with investors and commercial partners.
  • Talent and peer engagement
    • Receive support in developing company culture, attract the right talent and learning from fellow founders in the network.
  • Policy and regulation navigation
    • Engage with high-level policy makers, as well as expert guidance on certifications, procurement, and regulatory hurdles.

Who is it for?

  • This programme is open to ventures who are:
    • Developing solutions that contribute to net zero and/or support climate change mitigation or adaptation; demonstrable impact
    • Registered and operating in the UK
    • Solution being at Technology Readiness Levels 5 or 6
    • Seed investment or equivalent raised (at least £500,000)
