The Connect NextGen Hackathon, powered by Ericsson in collaboration with the Federal Government of Nigeria and Tech Revolution Africa, is a national innovation initiative aimed at identifying, supporting, and scaling early-stage technology startups building solutions for Africa’s most pressing challenges.
The hackathon focuses on key areas of innovation including Telecommunications, FinTech, HealthTech, AgriTech, EdTech, Internet of Things (IoT), CleanTech, AI/ML, and Sustainability, spotlighting solutions that improve connectivity, digital access, financial inclusion, healthcare delivery, farming productivity, learning outcomes, smart data-driven systems, clean energy, and long-term social, economic, and environmental impact.
Selected startups will benefit from an intensive 8-week acceleration program that provides technical and business mentorship from industry experts, access to funding opportunities and investor networks, visibility through media and ecosystem platforms, networking with government, corporate, and ecosystem stakeholders, and the opportunity to pitch live at the Hackathon Demo Day.
To qualify for the program, startups must operate in Nigeria, possess a minimum viable product (MVP), demonstrate measurable traction or pilot usage, and maintain a gender-inclusive team composition. The initiative offers a platform for emerging tech ventures to transform innovative ideas into sustainable, impact-driven solutions that address real-world challenges across the country.
