Deadline Date: April 03, 2026
The Global Women’s Network for the Energy Transition (GWNET) and the SADC Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SACREEE) have launched the second cohort of a capacity-building programme designed to support women entrepreneurs in the energy sector.
The programme focuses on providing opportunities for participants to connect with role models and experts who can guide them in navigating challenges and scaling their businesses. Its objectives include supporting rising entrepreneurs with existing businesses or business plans, empowering women-led enterprises in solar thermal, energy efficiency, and productive use of energy, and facilitating enterprise financing through matchmaking with potential funders.
The initiative prioritizes business soft-skill training and mentorship over technical technology training, and it targets women entrepreneurs who are nationals of SADC countries and can commit approximately eight hours per month to the virtual programme.
Over a six-month period, participants will receive intensive support aimed at advancing their businesses through interaction with industry role models and experts. While the programme does not provide direct capital funding, it strengthens access to financial opportunities by linking entrepreneurs with potential funders. By offering this structured support, the programme seeks to empower women-led energy enterprises to drive sustainable energy solutions and contribute to regional growth in the sector.
