Deadline Date: February 28, 2026
UNCDF has launched a new Expression of Interest (EOI) to identify and support MSMEs driving deforestation-free, climate-resilient and inclusive growth across Central Africa under Pro-Congo, a joint initiative with UN Environment Programme in partnership with Central African Forest Initiative (CAFI).
The focus areas of this opportunity include deforestation-free, climate-resilient and inclusive growth, sustainable agriculture and agro-industry, renewable energy and emissions reduction, sustainable timber and forest-based industries, landscape restoration, reforestation and afforestation, and ecotourism and protected area co-management. Private companies operating in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Gabon, and Cameroon form part of the targeted regions for this initiative.
This Expression of Interest aims to identify formally registered private companies in the region that are contributing to forest protection, climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods. Enterprises working in areas such as sustainable agriculture, renewable energy solutions including clean cooking and productive-use energy, sustainable timber production, and broader forest-based industries are encouraged to apply. Businesses engaged in landscape restoration, reforestation, and afforestation are also eligible, as well as companies advancing ecotourism initiatives and co-management of protected areas.
Selected enterprises may benefit from tailored blended finance packages designed to support their growth and strengthen their environmental and social impact. This may include reimbursable grants or concessional loans combined with technical assistance, ensuring businesses have the financial and operational capability needed to scale their solutions. The support provided aims to help companies deepen their contribution to protecting forests, addressing climate challenges, and improving local livelihoods across Central Africa.
