The Canadian Agriculture Technology Innovation R&D Partnering Delegation to Brazil invites Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to participate in an in-person partnership development activity from February 23 to 27, 2026, in Brazil to explore agtech opportunities, build R&D collaborations, and expand into the Brazilian market.
Focus Areas: The delegation targets Canadian companies working on technologies/solutions in the Agricultural Technology (Agtech) sector including precision agriculture, IoT sensors, and AI analytics to monitor crops, optimize irrigation, and predict yields; agricultural biotechnology such as genetic engineering for improved crop resilience and seeds; microbial solutions for soil health and pest control; biologicals including biopesticides, biofertilizers, biostimulants, and microbial inoculants; and soil management including soil analysis, defensives, and management. The delegation is designed to increase awareness of opportunities within the Brazilian market, introduce Canadian SMEs with innovative agtech technologies to potential Brazilian partners, and support joint R&D collaborations aiming at future commercialization, such as validation of technology suitability, adaptation to market characteristics, and joint development of new products and services.
The delegation will bring together eight to ten Canadian SMEs with demonstrated capabilities in agtech. Participants should be profit-oriented, incorporated in Canada, have experience commercializing technology domestically or internationally, possess capacity and interest in co-developing technology with Brazilian partners, and have sufficient resources to undertake multi-year R&D collaborations.
The itinerary runs from February 23 to 27, 2026, visiting São Paulo, Campinas, Piracicaba, and Ribeirão Preto. Prior to departure, participants will attend a virtual overview of the Brazilian agriculture sector, delegation activities, funding opportunities, pitch coaching, and research security considerations. The delegation includes meetings with FAPESP, BASF/AgroStart, Embrapa Agricultura Digital, ESALQ Agriculture School, PULSE Innovation Hub, and Supera Parque Innovation Hub. Activities will include tailored B2B matchmaking, site visits, pitching opportunities, and networking luncheons with local companies, researchers, and officials.
Brazil is a top global agricultural producer and exporter, with the largest territory of arable land, strong adoption of new technologies, and a well-structured sector value chain comprising academic research, incubators, accelerators, hubs, and large agricultural groups. The Canadian International Innovation Program (CIIP) may fund up to 50% of eligible expenses including economy airfare, local transport, accommodation, meals, and conference fees for eligible Canadian SMEs. Not-for-profit organizations can join as observers without financial support.
