The University Innovation Hub Program (UIHP), a flagship initiative of the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA), funded by the World Bank, as part of the Digital Entrepreneurship and Innovation Ecosystem Development (DEIED) project, is designed to integrate global best practices into university-led innovation hubs.
UIHP is designed to inspire and mentor 3,000 students in their startup journeys. These students from participating universities will go through an engrossing mentorship program that encompasses all aspects of entrepreneurship, ranging from idea validation to product commercialization. Opportunity to win up to 150,000 taka as grant. Entrepreneurial skill development through guided mentoring sessions. Dedicated co-working space with state-of-the-art facilities at own university. UIHP presents Systems Thinking and Design Thinking: Key for Innovation. Networking and connection with industry leaders.
The University Innovation Hub Program offers a transformative experience for students in leading Bangladeshi universities, focusing on developing a vibrant entrepreneurial mindset and fostering innovation. Students participate in a 12-16 week hybrid program, primarily conducted over the weekends, ensuring that academic commitments are seamlessly balanced with entrepreneurial pursuits. With mentorship at its core, the program allows student teams to cultivate business ideas, validate concepts, and transition to product commercialization, all within a supportive university environment. The provision of a dedicated workspace equipped with advanced facilities enhances the creative process and collaboration among teams.
UIHP uniquely emphasizes inclusivity, mandating that each team should consist of 3-5 members, with at least one female participant, which promotes diversity and broadens perspectives within entrepreneurial endeavors. Participants gain not only the chance to win substantial grant funding but also grow their networks through direct connections with industry leaders who play a vital role in guiding and shaping their startup journeys.
By engaging with this program, students from a range of prestigious institutions—including Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET), Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), United International University, Begum Rokeya University, BRAC University, Varendra University, Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), and Khulna University—have the resources and mentorship necessary to turn ideas into impactful innovations.
