Deadline Date: July 10, 2026
Applications are now open for Mindanao TECH PLANTER 2026, a program that supports the development and presentation of research-driven deep tech innovations in Mindanao.
The program focuses on agriculture, marine science, food security, life sciences, eco-sustainability, biology, deep technology, STEM-based innovation, research-backed technologies, social impact solutions, startup ecosystem development, regional innovation, collaboration, and capacity building.
The initiative seeks deep tech research teams, startups, universities, incubators, accelerators, and startup enablers from Mindanao that are developing innovative solutions to address societal challenges through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
The program provides an opportunity for participants working in various deep tech domains to present their research, technologies, and solutions to a growing network of partners that support the startup and innovation ecosystem across the island region.
The main purpose of TECH PLANTER is to identify researchers and startup organizations that demonstrate the passion and commitment to introduce meaningful solutions to deep-rooted social issues. Through research-backed technologies and innovation, participants can further develop their ideas while addressing challenges in key sectors and industries.
The regional implementation of the program follows the model of its parent initiative in Japan, where different regions are given opportunities to present their research and innovations. By continuing the Regional TECH PLANTER program in Mindanao, local institutions and stakeholders are provided with opportunities for development and innovation advancement.
In the Philippines, the program supports the growth of the deep tech ecosystem beyond Metro Manila. This approach encourages greater collaboration and development across regions, helping strengthen innovation networks and create opportunities for researchers, startups, and ecosystem stakeholders throughout the country.
