Deadline Date: April 12, 2026
The Austrian Development Agency (ADA) has announced the Business Partnership Challenge 2026, inviting eligible organizations to submit project proposals aimed at sustainable development in ODA recipient countries.
The initiative focuses on projects that aim to create systemic and lasting structural change by strengthening institutional capacities, fostering collaboration between local and international partners, and implementing international norms and standards, while also emphasizing inclusivity through engagement with diverse local stakeholders such as enterprises, public institutions, and civil society organizations, and encouraging innovative approaches including digital solutions to address development-related challenges in partner countries.
The program has allocated a total funding pool of EUR 5 million to support impactful development initiatives. Individual projects can receive grants ranging from EUR 500,000 to EUR 1,000,000, with ADA covering up to 50 percent of the total project costs. Applicants are required to contribute at least half of the total project budget, ensuring shared financial responsibility and commitment to project success.
Eligibility is limited to enterprises, chambers, voluntary associations, and non-profit foundations headquartered in the European Economic Area or Switzerland, provided they are actively engaged in development cooperation as defined under Austria’s Development Cooperation Act. Additionally, applicants must have been operational for more than three years and demonstrate sufficient administrative, technical, and financial capacity to effectively implement the proposed project.
This funding opportunity aligns with ADA’s overarching mission to combat poverty, promote peace, and protect the environment by supporting collaborative and innovative partnerships that deliver measurable and sustainable development outcomes.
