The International Alliance for Women’s World of Difference Awards recognize individuals and organizations whose actions and initiatives significantly advance the economic empowerment of women around the world.
The award focuses on recognizing contributions to women’s economic empowerment across several areas including community impact, corporate leadership, education-based initiatives, entrepreneurship, non-profit or NGO work, public sector contributions, and corporate initiatives that support women’s economic advancement.
The awards are presented by the The International Alliance for Women (TIAW) to honour individuals—both women and men—as well as organizations that have made meaningful contributions toward improving women’s ability to earn a living and achieve economic independence. The initiative highlights efforts that create tangible improvements in women’s economic opportunities at local, regional, and global levels.
The The International Alliance for Women recognizes that impactful change can come from a wide range of efforts, from small-scale community projects in developing regions to large corporate programs that influence global business practices. By celebrating these initiatives, the awards aim to showcase how individuals and institutions can play a vital role in supporting women’s financial independence and long-term economic growth.
Each year, TIAW also presents the TIAW World of Difference Lifetime Achievement Award, which honours a woman who has made a lasting and transformative impact on the lives of women through her long-term commitment and achievements. In addition, the Mandy Goetze Award is granted annually to a TIAW member who has demonstrated exceptional dedication and contribution to the organization, either through sustained involvement over time or through a remarkable accomplishment within a specific period.
The awards are open to a wide range of nominees, including individuals who may be widely recognized as well as those whose contributions have largely remained behind the scenes. Nominations are evaluated based on how effectively the candidate’s work contributes to women’s economic empowerment, particularly through initiatives that enable women to earn income, build financial stability, or improve their economic prospects.
A key aspect of the nomination process is demonstrating measurable impact. Submissions must clearly quantify how the nominee’s actions have contributed to the economic advancement of women, whether through programs, mentorship, employment opportunities, entrepreneurial support, policy initiatives, or community-driven projects.
Through the World of Difference Awards, TIAW aims to highlight stories of leadership, innovation, and dedication that inspire further action toward a more inclusive global economy where women have equal opportunities to thrive.
