Deadline Date: November 14, 2025
The Bharat Startup Grand Challenge by BIRAC and Startup India invites industry, incubators, and academia to collaboratively drive biotech innovation through problem-driven startup solutions.
Focus Areas: Devices and Diagnostics, Drugs and Drug Delivery, Biotherapeutics, Vaccines, Bioinformatics and BioAI, Industrial Biotechnology, Agri-tech and allied areas, Functional Foods and Smart Proteins, Sanitation and Waste Management, and any other relevant domain in life sciences.
The Bharat Startup Grand Challenge is a joint initiative by the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) and Startup India (SUI), launched to strengthen innovation-led collaboration between startups and key biotech stakeholders. The initiative aims to identify and solve sector-specific challenges submitted by partners from the biotech industry, incubators, and academia, enabling the development of scalable and impactful biotech solutions.
Through this program, BIRAC and Startup India are inviting forward-thinking partners from industry, research institutions, and incubators to submit biotech problem statements that startups can address. Each partner is expected to outline the kind of support they can offer to startups, such as financial assistance, proof-of-concept funding, commercialization aid, mentorship, or access to laboratories and markets.
Once submitted, the problem statements and proposed offerings will undergo joint screening by BIRAC and Startup India. Subsequently, specific calls for proposals will be announced with each identified partner to attract startups capable of addressing these challenges. The partnering organizations will actively engage in evaluating and selecting startups and will commit to collaborating closely with them to implement solutions.
BIRAC and Startup India will serve as enablers, facilitating connections across a national network of mentors, experts, and stakeholders. This initiative aims to create a strong bridge between industry needs and startup capabilities while promoting public-private partnerships in biotechnology and offering both financial and non-financial support mechanisms.
Interested organizations, including industry players, incubators, accelerators, academic and R&D institutions, and biotech parks, are encouraged to submit their expressions of interest by 14th November 2025 through the official BIRAC portal.
