Banco Santander, through its Santander X platform, announces the Santander X Spain Award 2025, a distinguished opportunity aimed at recognizing and promoting technology-based startups and scaleups legally incorporated in Spain.
The Award focuses on promoting the best technology-based startups and scaleups with innovative and disruptive solutions currently undergoing acceleration at the national level. The objectives include providing training, technical and financial support, outreach, and personalized advice for the launch and acceleration of entrepreneurial projects. Key themes include activation of talent and innovation capacity, connection within the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem, and acceleration through growth and scaling support.
The Santander X platform acts as a global, collaborative, and flexible tool designed to generate and boost an innovative entrepreneurship ecosystem with a real economic and social impact. The Award targets startups and scaleups that meet specific criteria related to annual turnover, seed capital raised, and team size, distinguishing between startups with lower turnover and scaleups with higher turnover and investment.
Participants who register through the platform stand a chance to compete for national exposure. Ten finalists in each category (startups and scaleups) will attend the Valencia Digital Summit in October 2025, gain visibility through Santander Group channels, and receive mentoring from expert mentors.
Winners in each category receive tiered cash prizes ranging up to €20,000 for scaleups and €10,000 for startups to develop their entrepreneurial solutions. Moreover, awardees may gain direct access to the Santander X Global Award for broader international exposure.
Selection is rigorous, involving phased evaluations by experts and a final presentation to a jury at the Digital Summit. Evaluations focus on impact potential, innovation quality, scalability, competitive advantage, and team structure. Participants are required to use the cash prize solely for the development of their winning solutions and to market them within ninety days.
Intellectual property rights related to submitted materials remain with participants, though Banco Santander is granted non-exclusive rights to use materials for promoting the Award. Personal data processing complies with strict data protection principles, shared only for evaluation and mentoring purposes.
The Award underscores Banco Santander’s commitment to supporting technology-driven entrepreneurship within Spain, fostering an ecosystem where innovative ideas can thrive and scale effectively.
