The Minara Business Recognition Awards (MBRA) is pleased to announce the call for nominations for the prestigious 2025 edition.
The highly anticipated event celebrates exceptional businesses, leaders, and professionals who have made a significant impact in their respective fields.
The awards provide a platform to honor excellence, innovation, and community contributions across various industries.
The Minara Business Recognition Awards is dedicated to acknowledging and honoring businesses and individuals for their contributions to the growth and success of South Africa’s economy.
Categories
- This year, nominations are open across eight categories that recognize the outstanding achievements of businesses and individuals:
- Business Entity of the Year:
- Start-Up Category
- Medium Business Category
- Large Business Category
- Businesswoman of the Year
- Professional Achiever of the Year
- Young Achiever of the Year
- Community Builder of the Year
- Business Entity of the Year:
Eligibility Criteria
- The awards are open to South African Muslims and to majority Muslim-owned business entities registered and operating in South Africa.
- Each category has its own specific criteria to ensure that the most deserving candidates are acknowledged.
- Minara Business Entity Category:
- Large Business:
- The business must be in existence for more than 10 years, has grown into a market leader, demonstrated diversity, has performed well consistently (both operationally and financially), expanded its capacity, developed a sustainable strategy and adopted best practice and governance.
- Medium Business:
- The business must be in existence for more than 6 years, has grown into a market leader, has performed well consistently (both operationally and financially), has a future growth trajectory and is adopting best practice and governance.
- Startup Business:
- The business must already be in existence, less than 6 years old, has a demonstrable financial sustainability, is innovative and is adopting new processes for operations.
- Large Business:
- Businesswoman of the Year:
- The nominee must be leading her own business and have been in business for at least 5 years. The nominee must demonstrate leadership, a modern managerial outlook, vision and commitment. The individual must show a balance between business and community involvement.
- Young Entrepreneur of the Year:
- The Young Entrepreneur Award recognises innovators aged 35 and under, operating a business/es for over three years. Applicant must actively lead, demonstrating innovation, sustainability and growth
- Professional Achiever of the Year:
- A professional who has reached the pinnacle of achievement in their profession and also contributed to the development in society. The professional achiever must have been in their respective field for over 5 years. Their achievements should exemplify excellence, integrity, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Community Builder:
- Any individual who has been selfless in service to humanity and whose contribution has benefitted society. The Community Builder Award recognizes individuals who selflessly serves humanity, making significant contributions that benefit society. Their voluntary efforts foster community cohesion and uplift those in need.
