Deadline Date: January 30, 2026
The FACIT’s Falcons’ Fortunes invites Ontario-based entrepreneurs and researchers to pitch their cancer-related innovations for the opportunity to win the $100,000 Ernsting Entrepreneurship Award and the Audience Choice Award, fostering commercialization of cancer research discoveries.
The focus areas, objectives, and priorities of the competition include supporting Ontario-made cancer innovations, promoting entrepreneurial growth among scientists and researchers, articulating the technical and commercial value of innovations, demonstrating market need and patient impact, highlighting competitive differentiation, advancing commercialization plans, and encouraging pitches that clearly show how funding will benefit patients.
Now in its 13th year, Falcons’ Fortunes is Canada’s premier annual pitch competition dedicated to cancer innovations, celebrating entrepreneurial spirit within the cancer research community and cultivating a culture where research discoveries become commercially viable solutions that positively impact patients worldwide. The competition is open to Ontario-based startups and entrepreneurial researchers developing cancer-related ideas or innovations with commercial potential.
The $100,000 Ernsting Entrepreneurship Award is managed through FACIT’s Prospects Fund and awarded following due diligence and board approval, while the Audience Choice Award is determined by attendees’ votes. The judging panel evaluates presentations based on clarity of technical merits, value proposition, market opportunity, competitive differentiation, use of funds for commercialization, and overall effectiveness of the pitch. Winners are announced during the evening networking event following the competition.
