Deadline: February 02, 2026
DOK.fest München and VFF Verwertungsgesellschaft der Film- und Fernsehproduzenten mbH are pleased to announce the 9th VFF Documentary Production Award, which will be presented at the 41st DOK.fest München, taking place in May 2026.
This award is dedicated to documentary producers in Germany. It recognises the important role of production in the creation of current documentary feature films. The award is donated by the VFF Verwertungsgesellschaft der Film- und Fernsehproduzenten mbH and is endowed with prize money of 7,500 euros. The award goes to the producer of the film, and the ceremony will take place within the festival programme of DOK.fest München. Producers are cordially invited to submit their current documentary films.
To be eligible for submission, films must meet the following conditions of participation: the film must have a minimum length of 72 minutes, at least 51% of the production share must come from Germany, and the film must have been published after 1 January 2025. Films that have already participated in a previous DOK.fest München edition cannot be resubmitted. University films, including graduation and debut films, are not permitted. It is obligatory for the submitted films to have two to three public screenings at DOK.fest München 2026.
The selection for the VFF Documentary Production Talent Award is based on several criteria. It is the responsibility of the producer to present the special production achievement in the submitted documents. These criteria include commitment of the production in the selection of a challenging subject, commitment and productivity in putting together the financing, as well as creative and innovative approaches to production.
