The IndiaAI Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) Challenge is seeking innovative solutions to revolutionize document management through advanced Artificial Intelligence.
The challenge aims to develop a scalable, accurate, and secure AI engine that leverages Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to process documents end-to-end with maximum efficiency and cost optimization.
Participants are tasked with creating solutions that can accurately extract, segment, structure, and analyze critical information from a wide variety of document types, including certificates, affidavits, disciplinary proceedings, transcripts, identity cards, promotion files, and diplomas. Solutions must handle degraded-quality inputs such as low-resolution scans, faded ink, watermarks, skewed or distorted pages, and variable lighting. They must also manage complex formats with non-standard layouts, multi-font content, and linguistic diversity, supporting translation of documents from multiple Indian languages into English for extraction, structuring, and verification.
The challenge is being conducted in partnership with public institutions to streamline high-volume, text-heavy document processing in public services using AI and machine learning technologies.
The competition is structured in four key stages. Stage 1 involves registration and submission of solutions, followed by Stage 2, the evaluation process. In Stage 3, up to five shortlisted teams will receive INR 5 Lakhs to refine and test their solutions on a dataset provided by IndiaAI or its partnering institutions. Finally, Stage 4 may see up to two teams secure a two-year work order worth up to INR 1 Crore to deploy their solutions at scale.
The challenge is open to Indian companies registered under the Companies Act, 2013, with at least 51% shareholding by Indian citizens or persons of Indian origin, as well as startups recognized under the latest DPIIT notification accessible via Startup India. This initiative offers a unique opportunity for innovators to create impactful AI solutions that improve efficiency and accuracy in public service document management.
