Deadline: September 01, 2025
The NFU Cymru and sponsors Wynnstay Group PLC have launched the 2025 Sustainable Agriculture Award to celebrate Wales’ most outstanding sustainable farmers.
The focus of the award is to demonstrate a commitment to the production of high-quality food to world leading standards, demonstrate their positive contribution to protecting, maintaining and enhancing the quality of the farmed environment, and demonstrate their involvement and contribution to the rural economy, rural community and Welsh culture.
Now in its fifth year, the award recognises the vital role farming plays in Wales’ economic, environmental, social, and cultural well-being. Farmers in Wales not only deliver high quality food but also manage over 80% of the country’s land, ensuring its protection and enhancement. They are seen as drivers of the rural economy and central figures in sustaining Welsh language and culture.
The award is open to farmers and farming enterprises across Wales, with nominations welcomed from individuals, families, organisations, or even self-nominations. Shortlisted candidates will undergo farm interviews with the judging panel during September and October. The winner will be announced at the NFU Cymru Conference on Thursday, 6 November 2025.
The winner will receive £500 and a commemorative accolade as recognition of their contribution. The closing date for applications is Monday, 1 September 2025, and entries can be submitted by completing an application form available via NFU Cymru.
