Deadline Date: January 16, 2026
The American Express in partnership with Main Street America provides grants for small businesses to grow, innovate, and support their local communities.
The focus of this opportunity is providing grants for small businesses to grow, innovate, and support their local communities. The Amex Shop Small Grants Program is designed to strengthen community-based businesses by offering financial support that fuels their long-term sustainability and economic impact. Each recipient will receive a grant of $20,000, and the program will initially distribute $5 million to fund 250 small business owners across the U.S.
This initiative reflects the shared commitment of American Express and Main Street America to uplift small businesses that power local economies. Small Business Saturday is an annual nationwide event dedicated to supporting small businesses and local communities, forming a key part of the broader Shop Small Movement.
Eligibility Grant funds must be used to help the small business grow and/or innovate and support their local communities. If a business already supports its local community, the grant can be used for growth and/or innovation. If not, a portion of the grant must be dedicated to a community-focused initiative, in addition to business growth and/or innovation. All proposed project plans must be “ready-to-execute” in order for them to be implemented and operational by the end of the grant period.
