The Grant for Agroecology Program (GAP) – Challenge Fund offers significant financial support to agroecology-focused enterprises seeking to scale their business operations across India.
The focus areas of this opportunity are investment greater than INR 01 Crore (10 million) and up to 02 Crore (20 million); the GAP Fund is announced quarterly at Pan India level; must be Producer Organization Enterprises (POEs) such as Producer Companies or Cooperatives or any registered entities or Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs); the enterprise must have been in operation for at least 2 years on the date of the application; the applicant firm should have minimum turnover of INR 2 Crore (20 million); audited financial statements for the past 02 years are available; proof of 30% co-funding; minimum coverage of 1000 small and marginal producers; Producer Organization Enterprises such as Producer Companies or Cooperatives or any other form of registered producer collective enterprises; for-profit enterprises including start-up organizations; individual entrepreneurs with registered business entity; nonprofit organizations or NGOs can assist with the preparation of an application by a Producer Organization or Enterprise but they cannot apply in their own right; proof of 30% co-funding.
The GAP Challenge Fund has been designed to encourage enterprises working in agroecology to scale their operations and strengthen market linkages across India. By offering substantial financial assistance, the program supports organisations that are ready to expand and make measurable impact in the agricultural ecosystem.
Enterprises applying for this fund must demonstrate strong operational history, financial stability, and the ability to benefit a large base of small and marginal producers. This ensures that the investment delivers meaningful outcomes on the ground while enabling businesses to adopt sustainable and resilient practices.
The fund welcomes a diverse range of applicants, including producer organisations, cooperatives, for-profit enterprises, startups, and individual entrepreneurs with registered businesses. While nonprofits are not eligible to apply directly, they can play a supporting role by assisting producer organisations in preparing their applications.
