Deadline Date: February 02, 2026
The City of Parramatta Council is offering the Social Enterprise Business Planning Grant to support the growth, sustainability, and planning of local social enterprises.
The focus areas of the grant are to assist existing local social enterprises to engage an external professional service that can assist with the ongoing operation and sustainability of the business such as marketing, web design, and book-keeping, and to provide funding for existing not-for-profit organisations who are at the concept development stage of a social enterprise project and need assistance in the research, development and writing of a social enterprise business plan. Project funds for business plans can be used to engage the services of a business planning consultant, or to fund the research activities and staff time associated in writing a business plan.
Social enterprises supported under this initiative are defined by having social, environmental, or cultural mission objectives core to their purpose and focus. They must limit profit distribution, ensuring that the majority of profits are reinvested into the enterprise or an associated social entity. These enterprises are expected to generate both a social and financial return while demonstrating accountability to stakeholders and favouring democratic decision-making structures. The funding limit for the Social Enterprise Business Planning Grant is $2,000.
To be eligible, applicants must be incorporated bodies or have an eligible social enterprise structure. Applications should include at least one quote for the professional services planned for use. If funds are intended to pay internal staff for business planning research and writing, applicants must clearly specify the staff positions involved, provide a breakdown of pay rates, and detail the anticipated hours of work, including those funded by the grant and other sources if applicable.
