The Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii) is offering the ML Exploration program to help startups understand and adopt artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to create tangible business value.
Focus Areas: Targeted Expertise, Hands On Learning, Actionable Strategy, AI/ML Opportunities, Opportunity Map, Data Understanding, Google Cloud Credits for Amii Startups.
The ML Exploration program by Amii enables startups to discover how AI and ML can accelerate their growth through guided learning and expert mentorship. Participants gain valuable insights from Amii experts through presentations and personalized mentoring sessions designed to identify real, actionable ideas. Over six weeks, startups apply new concepts through weekly exercises and receive regular feedback to ensure progress toward building a practical AI roadmap.
By the end of the program, participants will have a customized plan highlighting two to five potential AI or ML opportunities that could enhance their business operations. These opportunities are presented using Amii’s Opportunity Map, helping startups visualize where AI can add value and what steps are required to prepare their data for proof-of-concept development.
Startups participating in the ML Exploration or Level Up programs may also qualify for up to $250,000 USD in Google Cloud credits through the Google for Startups Cloud Program, providing a significant boost to their AI adoption journey.
The program is designed for startups in the early stages of growth that are developing software-based products or services and are exploring AI adoption within the next one to two years. Eligible startups should have annual revenue of up to $2 million and be able to commit four to five hours per week for the program’s duration, which includes online and in-person sessions, workshops, coaching, and self-guided work.
Valued at $3,000 but offered free of charge, the ML Exploration program will run from January 6 to February 13, 2026. Applications for the upcoming cohort close on November 30, 2025, with successful applicants to be announced on December 8, 2025.
