Call for Proposals: Translational Research in Healthcare Technologies (India)

Deadline Date: October 31, 2025

IHub-Data invites proposals from researchers and innovators for translational research projects in healthcare technologies, focusing on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Biomedical Devices, aimed at accelerating innovative, deployable solutions with commercialization potential to impact the healthcare sector in India.

Focus Areas: Proposals may address, but are not limited to, the following problem areas: Early screening and diagnosis of diseases; Drug discovery and development; Remote health and wellbeing monitoring; Disease staging and treatment support; Multimodal health data integration and fusion; Biomedical devices and wearable technologies; Predictive and personalized healthcare solutions; Neurological and mental health technologies; Communicable and non-communicable diseases (CDs and NCDs); Medical imaging analysis; Evidence-based data-driven clinical decision support systems.

This call for proposals by IHub-Data seeks to boost translational research specifically in healthcare technologies that leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and advanced biomedical devices. The initiative aims to expedite the creation of innovative and deployable solutions that provide tangible benefits to healthcare delivery and have a clear path towards commercialization.

Projects proposed should have a duration of up to one year, with funding support capped at 10 lakhs, where non-recurring expenses are limited to 10% of the total budget. The application window is set from October 10th through October 31st, 2025, and shortlisted candidates will participate in a presentation pitching round before final selection decisions.

The expected project start date is January 2026. Proposals that demonstrate collaboration with hospitals, healthcare providers, startups, or industry stakeholders will be prioritized, especially if they ensure clinical validation and regulatory compliance for smoother adoption. Those with a clear commercialization roadmap and industry engagement may also be considered for additional follow-on funding.

Expected outcomes include advancing technology readiness levels from TRL 3 to TRL 7, developing deployable prototypes or products suitable for healthcare settings, and producing complete technical documentation. While scientific publications may result from the work, the primary focus is on real-world deployable prototypes with commercialization potential.

Selected projects could be showcased to investors, industry, and healthcare providers through IHub-Data platforms, promoting adoption and scale-up. Applicants are encouraged to utilize healthcare datasets maintained by IHub-Data and hosted on the India Data Foundation platform for their solutions.
