The Government of The Gambia, through the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, is inviting applications for the Tourism Diversification and Resilience in The Gambia Project (TDRGP) MSME Acceleration Intervention for tourism-sector-related MSMEs, starting with Cohorts 3 and 4, to enhance tourism sector productivity, resilience, and inclusive growth by supporting MSMEs through a structured six-month program and potential funding opportunities.
Focus Areas: Supporting private sector development, achieving economic diversification, boosting tourism sector productivity, sustainability, resilience, and inclusive growth, addressing key market failures inhibiting the competitiveness of the tourism sector, and improving MSMEs’ productivity in The Gambia.
The Tourism Diversification and Resilience in The Gambia Project (TDRGP) is a flagship initiative designed to accelerate the growth of tourism-related micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in The Gambia. The program aims to provide practical support to MSMEs, helping them overcome market challenges and become more competitive and resilient within the tourism sector.
The accelerator program is cohort-based and spans six months in its first phase, focusing on formalization, business model development, customer traction, and investment readiness. Participating MSMEs will benefit from business development services training, coaching, mentoring, peer learning, networking, and linkage building. This comprehensive support structure ensures that businesses are not only prepared for immediate growth but are also positioned to attract potential investors.
Following the initial six-month program, a potential second phase allows graduating MSMEs to access a matching-grant award of up to $50,000 along with implementation support. This funding is intended to help businesses scale their operations, implement growth strategies, and increase their overall contribution to the Gambia’s tourism sector.
