The Ignition Fund is a competitive-based program that provides startup capital for entrepreneurs establishing a new innovative business venture or developing and launching a new innovative product.
Focus areas include projects that are committed to establishing and operating on PEI, products or services that are innovative or unique with strong export potential, and those that have not already received a PEI Labour rebate from Innovation PEI.
The fund supports activities related to startup and product development such as professional and consulting services, product refinement, marketing and research, intellectual property, business development, and capital purchases. Each successful applicant may receive up to $25,000 in seed funding without any requirement for matching contributions.
Applications will be evaluated based on the experience of the founders and management team, the proposed product or service, its potential market value and uptake, and overall business growth prospects. Selected applicants will be invited to pitch their ideas to an evaluation committee, with results to be announced in early January 2026.
Applicants must submit a complete application that includes project details, founder and team profiles, a market analysis, and a statement of work with milestones and timelines. The deadline for applications is October 20, 2025, at 1:00 pm ADT. Pitch sessions will take place on November 27 and 28, 2025.
To help interested entrepreneurs prepare, several information sessions are being held across PEI, including Charlottetown, Montague, Alberton, U.P.E.I., Summerside, and an online session on October 9, 2025. Space for in-person sessions is limited and requires advance registration.
