Deadline: September 30, 2025
The Digitalise your Micro Business Grant Scheme supports micro enterprises looking to invest in digital technologies for enhanced efficiency, productivity, and customer experience.
The focus areas are digitalisation investment initiatives by micro enterprises in several economic sectors, investments in digital technologies and related processes, digital technologies such as hardware, software, and other digital solutions to improve efficiency, productivity, and customer experience, and investment grants to intensify the digitalisation of the private sector.
The incentive is designed specifically for micro enterprises, which make up 97% of SMEs in Malta, to co-finance digitalisation investments aimed at improving resilience and business growth. Eligible investments include hardware like laptops and tablets, commercial off-the-shelf software, cloud computing solutions, and installation and training costs related to these technologies. Subscription-based software costs for up to two years are also considered eligible. The grant covers up to 50% of eligible costs in Malta and 60% in Gozo, with a maximum funding amount of €10,000 per undertaking. Applications can only be submitted online and must include required documentation such as quotations, de minimis declarations, compliance certificates, and financial statements.
The implementation timeframe for the digitalisation investments is three months from the grant agreement signing, with possible extensions subject to justified requests. The investments must be maintained and remain operational for at least three years following project completion. Monitoring and audit checks may be conducted both during and after project implementation to ensure compliance with the grant conditions and proper use of funds. Beneficiaries are obligated to keep records and documentation of the investments, procurement process, and payments, ensuring transparency and sound financial management.
Applicants subject to exclusions such as insolvency proceedings, previous funding benefits under similar schemes, or specific restricted sectors, are ineligible to apply. Publicity and visibility requirements must be met by beneficiaries, including installing commemorative plaques and acknowledging support from the European Union and NextGenerationEU Funds. Failure to comply with any grant provisions may lead to recovery of funds.
