Deadline Date: 31 December 2026
The REACT 2.0 Ethiopia programme is requesting applications to support private-sector investment to expand clean energy access and strengthen climate-resilient agriculture in Ethiopia.
The programme focuses on accelerating the adoption of productive use of energy (PUE) solutions, improving household and community energy access through decentralized solar solutions, strengthening local enterprise investment readiness, promoting gender equality, youth empowerment, environmental sustainability, inclusive business models, green job creation, and climate-smart practices.
The REACT 2.0 Ethiopia programme aims to contribute to sustainable socio-economic development and improved climate resilience by supporting private-sector investment in the agricultural and energy sectors. It seeks to increase agricultural productivity, improve food security, and expand household energy access in underserved markets across Ethiopia.
The programme will support activities in the Oromia, Somali, and Amhara regions. Through its interventions, it aims to help enterprises adopt innovative approaches that strengthen agricultural value chains while improving access to clean and reliable energy.
Two funding windows are available under the programme. The first is the Working Capital and Inventory Finance Facility, which targets early-stage distributors and service providers of solar home systems (SHS) and small-scale productive use of energy technologies. Grants ranging from USD 250,000 to USD 400,000 will be provided to improve liquidity, strengthen inventory access, and enhance last-mile distribution.
The second funding window is the Energy Capital Expenditure (Capex) Facility, which supports growth-stage companies investing in larger-scale productive use of energy infrastructure and climate-smart energy solutions for agriculture. Grants of USD 250,000 to USD 400,000 will support investments in solar irrigation, cold storage, drying, and processing facilities that complement agricultural value chains.
