Apply now for Events and Educational Initiatives Program (Canada)

Deadline Date: August 28, 2026

The BC Hydro Peace Agricultural Compensation Fund’s Events and Educational Initiatives Program provides financial support to agricultural producers, industry associations, educational institutions, and eligible non-profit organizations in the Peace region to strengthen agricultural production and agrifoods economic activity through educational events and initiatives.

The program focuses on supporting agricultural producers, industry associations, registered non-profit agricultural organizations, Peace region agencies, boards and councils, educational institutions undertaking agriculture-related research, national, provincial and local conventions, shows and exhibitions, local education initiatives, outreach activities, networking opportunities, mentorship events, and projects that deliver educational benefits within the Peace region.

The BC Hydro Peace Agricultural Compensation Fund is administered by Northern Development Initiative Trust and overseen by BC Hydro. The fund is managed as a sustainable endowment, ensuring that only a portion of the available funds is distributed annually so that the program can continue supporting agricultural development in the Peace region over the long term.

The program is designed to provide flexible funding that reflects the diverse needs of the agricultural sector. It supports organizations whose work directly benefits agriculture in the Peace region while relying on regional decision-making that recognizes local strengths, challenges, and opportunities. The application process is intended to be efficient for applicants who submit complete and well-documented proposals.

Funding is available for educational events held within the Peace region. Local events may receive grants of up to $5,000, provincial events may receive up to $10,000, and national events may receive up to $15,000. In all cases, funding can cover a maximum of 80% of the eligible project budget. The program has an annual funding limit of $50,000 for all projects.

Eligible applicants include corporations, cooperatives, individuals, partnerships active in agriculture in the Peace region, including new industry entrants and young agricultural operators, registered non-profit agricultural organizations, Peace region industry associations, agencies, boards and councils, and educational institutions conducting research directly related to the Peace region.

Eligible projects must include an educational component and be conducted within the Peace region. Supported activities include conventions, exhibitions, educational workshops, outreach programs, networking sessions, and mentorship events that contribute to agricultural knowledge sharing and sector development.

Eligible project expenses include room or booth rental, audio-visual equipment rental, design, printing and advertising costs, speaker or facilitator fees and their associated travel expenses, food and beverages up to a maximum of $20 per person, and supplies necessary for the event. The program also recognizes monetized donations of materials, equipment, or services from third parties, provided applicants submit confirmation of the committed donations and maintain appropriate documentation and receipts during project implementation.
