Deadline Date: August 10, 2026
The City of Greater Geelong’s Community Events Grants provide funding support for public events that create community and economic benefits across the Greater Geelong region.
The objectives of the grant are to support new community events, support local traders and businesses to generate economic impact and stimulate growth in the Greater Geelong region, celebrate Greater Geelong’s diverse cultural identity and support inclusive community events, and activate the municipality’s community hubs, halls, sporting and cultural venues, activity centres, and public open spaces.
Applicants can request up to $10,000 in funding, with a total funding pool of $150,000 available for Community Events Grants. Funding may support costs such as contractors, equipment hire, event-specific insurance, security, staging hire, additional event-related staff wages, toilet hire, and venue hire.
The Community Events Grants support moderately sized public events that are organised gatherings open to the community, publicly advertised, and held on a one-off or periodic basis. Eligible events are expected to attract 300 or more attendees and may include activities such as community festivals, food and wine festivals, music events, and state or national sporting events.
Eligible applicants include incorporated not-for-profit organisations, unincorporated groups with an auspice, registered charitable organisations, businesses, sole traders with an active ABN, and schools or learning institutions for non-curriculum-based activities that support wider community participation.
The grants are competitive, and meeting eligibility requirements does not guarantee funding. Priority may be given to applicants who did not receive funding from this grant in the previous year, organisations that do not receive income from electronic gaming machines or gambling, unique or new events in the region, and events held during off-peak months from April to September.
