The Climate Change Partnerships Grant Program is inviting applications to support the Geelong community to lead the way in adapting to a changing climate.
Objectives
- Increase greening Greater Geelong, including tree planting and habitat restoration.
- Build community awareness about how a changing climate affects them.
- Boost energy efficiency and local renewable energy generation.
- Support the transition to a net zero emissions municipality by 2035.
- Encourage a shift to sustainable transport and cleaner fuels.
- Help store more carbon naturally through soils and vegetation.
- Strengthen local networks and collaboration for long-term impact.
Funding Information
- You may request up to $50,000.
- The total amount of funding available for Climate Change Partnerships Grants is $180,000.
Eligible Costs
- Projects designed to respond to the City’s Climate Change Response Plan 2021–30 by:
- Increasing greening Greater Geelong, including tree planting and habitat restoration.
- Building community awareness about how a changing climate affects them.
- Boosting energy efficiency and local renewable energy generation.
- Supporting the transition to a net zero emissions municipality by 2035.
- Encouraging a shift to sustainable transport and cleaner fuels.
- Helping store more carbon naturally through soils and vegetation.
- Strengthening local networks and collaboration for long-term impact.
Eligibility Criteria
- The grants are delivered through a co-design approach with the City, partnering with community groups and businesses to implement meaningful, local action.
- Applicants must be willing to work in partnership with them to develop their project scope and project plans. They may request to be involved in the project steering committee.
- They welcome bold new ideas and proven project models alike—whether you’re piloting something innovative or scaling up an existing initiative.
- To apply for this grant you must be one of the following:
- Incorporated not-for-profit organization.
- Unincorporated group with an auspice.
- Registered charitable organization.
- School or learning institution – only if in partnership with at least one other school or not-for-profit organization.
- Individual operating as a sole trader (with an active ABN) business.
Ineligibility Criteria
- You are not eligible to apply if you are any of the following:
- Individual (without an ABN).
- Previous applicant with an outstanding acquittal for grant funding from the City.
- Applicant who has not complied with the terms of a previous funding agreement.
- Entity currently involved in legal proceedings with the City, bankruptcy or similar situations.
- Entity with outstanding debt to the City.
