The Derbyshire Makes Creative and Community Grant is now accepting applications to support local creative projects that promote participation in making activities across Derbyshire.
The focus areas, of the grant include increasing enjoyment, appreciation, and engagement in all types of making, improving skills in making, and encouraging more sustainable approaches to making. It also supports activities related to design, craft and visual arts, community-based creative making, workshops, training and networking, performances and talks with a making theme, high street and window dressing schemes, participatory creative sessions, infrastructure for making activities, and commissioning artists to work with groups.
The grant is part of the wider Derbyshire Makes programme, which celebrates the past, present, and future of making in the county through activities and a festival period across hub towns including Bolsover, Chesterfield, Cromford, Glossop, Heanor, and Swadlincote. It aims to promote engagement with making in diverse and accessible ways.
Funding available under this scheme ranges from £300 to £2,000. The grant can be used for a variety of creative and community-based activities, but it does not cover capital costs, core running costs, advertising, website-related expenses, or grants to other organisations.
Eligible applicants must be residents or traders with a Derbyshire postal address and must have a UK bank account. Applicants must be registered companies, sole traders, charities, CICs, or community groups with a dedicated bank account. Derby residents and businesses are not eligible unless collaborating with a county-based business that acts as the applicant. Religious organisations or activities that could bring the authority into disrepute are excluded.
